Another Day, Another Diet Coke

There is no reason what-so-ever for this blog entry. Ab-so-lute-ly nothing new has happened in my life over the past five days. It's very sad.

I continue to battle the cough of the season. I think I am losing. Sigh. Cough, cough.

I had to teach tonight. I can't decide if the students really dislike me or chemistry. I was kind of hoping to have them hate neither. So much for that. According to my sister, I am a bitch of an instructor. Apparently, and no one told me this, take-home exams are suppose to be as "easy" as in-class exams. WHAT?? Ha! Not the take home exams I write. Hence -> bitch.

Oh well. Mwhaaahahahahaha.

I'd Like To See The Sun...

We have had an unusually warm winter this year. There were only a few days when you thought it might be possible for you to lose extremities and I don't think we had any days when it felt like your skin was going to peel off your face. That was nice. I was okay with that. Sigh. Now mother nature has decided before giving up this whole winter idea for another eight on nine months that she is going to give it the ol' college try. And, well, I want nothing to do with it.

I've been keeping my eyes open for the first signs of spring even though I know it's a wee early in the season. As of yet, no birds that herald the changing of seasons and no crocuses. I have always equated those flowers with the beginning of spring. I mean, shit, sometimes they pop up in the middle of a field of snow.

So, I decided to redo my blog page to reflect the spring-announcing flowers. I can't find them in real life but I can enjoy looking at them whenever I blog. I'm really looking forward to plastering the page with palm trees! Weeeeeee!

Have a great weekend!

Has Anyone Seen February???

DAMMIT! How is it already Feb. 15th?? More than half the month is gone. This is so sad.

I got a year older very recently. This may have contributed to my disinterest in logging the days in my mind. Ignorance is bliss. What day is it? Nope, don't want to know. That much closer to 29. And we all know that means I am even closer to 3 - 0 ! Aaack. Can someone please explain where my life has gone? Oh wait, I know... school.

I recently made a short excursion to the northern land (aka: arctic circle wanna be). Good stuff - it wasn't snowing! The travel curse was in effect as always. There was a ice storm of sorts the night before my departure. A long story short - I had to drive to an airport 4 hours away. Got up late. Made the drive in 3. Yeay for driving a mustang! On the return flight we were put in a holding pattern because weather at destination airport was bad. Then - rain the ENTIRE time driving home. 4.5 hrs for the return trip. Ugh.

The visit was greeeeeaaaat! Well, other than the bf being sick. Oh, and of course, I'm sick now. Had a great time sleeping, lounging, and sleeping some more. Did manage to make it out for a movie and dinner. Frankly, I was perfectly happy to sit at home and the bf needed to take it easy. We also went shopping for my bday gift/vday gift/dating anniversary gift... The gift ROCKS! Literally. Bf has certainly set the bar high for future gifting moments. I'm a very happy girl.

Also recently had a chance to visit with some friends from grad school. The club team that I was on when I was at school was in town for a tournament. Had a nice time visiting with them but it made me sad to have to watch from the sidelines. I kept having to fight the urge to bring a suit. Fortunately, the fact that I hadn't shaved my legs kept me in check.

I just found out that HI (a fellow grad student in my group) defended on Jan. 31st. Sigh. I'm so jealous. My thesis continues to suck so bad that I am embarrassed to back the files up let alone send the chapters to my advisor. Ugh. I guess I am somewhat encouraged by the fact that she actually finished. Does give me some hope.

Well, I just wanted to blog a short synopsis of my life for the past two weeks because I've been derilect in my blogging duties as of late. Hope everyone had a great hallmark holiday.

I've Parted Ways With Emode

It used to be Emode. That was the site I went to when I found myself bored and confused with life. It had those great "tests" that would tell you what movie star you would be, how smart you are, yadda, yadda, yadda and so forth. Recently (read about four hours ago), my bf and I were messenging and started talking about names. No, I am not pregnant! Just stop that. Now anyway, we were chatting about names and he mentioned that we (me and my siblings) all have solid names. No weird spelling or just weirdness. My mother, for those of you who don't know, was a little bit of a hippy. Actually, she still is. We all are pretty lucky she had the foresight to give us "normal" names. Although, I am pretty sure I would not be in graduate school if my name were Sunshine. That would have been a good thing. Sigh. Anyway, I digress... we got on this topic about hippy names and I suggested he find a site that gave you a hippy name. Sort of an emode-type site. Well, he did and I wanted to share some of my results...

This first one is a pirate character test. The only catch - people have to vote. So you needed to get as far as reading this and then take one more step and click the link so you can vote. I know you wanna do it... come on... don't be a lazy ass... just one click on the link and then one click to vote... took you longer to read all of my whining...

What kind of pirate am I? You decide!

And this one takes no effort whatsoever unless, or course, you laugh.

Bender!

Which Colossal Death Robot Are You?
Brought to you by Rum and Monkey

I hope you all had a much more productive Tuesday than I did!

Oh, and one other thing, you can just call me Peace Shamrock... my hippy name. :)
