I've Got 9 Minutes

Yeah, that's right. Nine minutes. Nine minutes before it is Saturday (here in mt).

I promised a post today. Maybe I shouldn't have done that. Didn't think I was going to be going out with bff&w (bf's friend and wife). The dinner was yummy.

Does anyone know if kafar lime leaves are the same as generic lime leaves? I need the kafar kind for a dish I'm making for dinner. I don't know how important they are to the recipe either. Anyone with some culinary shopping ideas/hints/pointers?

Sorta unrelated...

Is the bf already starting to resent that I "get to" hang out at the house all day while he is at work or am I just projecting my own feelings onto him?

How do you renew a friendship with someone you haven't seen, mailed, or spoken to in almost two years? I kind of let the friendship go because she was a "supporter of sorts" of my ex-bossman. We couldn't really talk about work because she had a good relationship with the guy (she was from the same group). Now that I am done, I think I would like to rekindle the friendship. We had lots in common outside of labwork and I would like to know how she is doing. It just seems too strange to drop an email out of the blue. Plus, if I do, how much of my 'new' life should I include? In short, is an email okay and if so should it be short or lengthy.

I am having a problem with a sweater I just bought pilling. Someone once told me about a stone that worked well. The lint brush definitely isn't doing squat. I dunno what to look for here in Canada. Any readers in Canada have a trusty chain/box store that might carry what I am looking for (a sweater pill remover)?

Okay, these are the only things I could think of in nine minutes. By my watch I have about 53 seconds to post this message. Aaaah, procrastination wasn't just a school thing for me... as it turns out. Have a great weekend everyone! I'll try to blog Monday or before.

  • Well, it's about time! You have been missed:)

    1. I am pretty sure the lime leaves are specialty. Good luck with that one.

    2. Why should he resent your staying home? Sounds like he has a lot of fresh new paint and better dinners.

    3. Just send a short email. If she wants to pursue, you can fill in all the details, if not you haven't gotten blabby with someone who just doesn't care.

    4. They sell razor blade type things to de-pill sweaters. My best advice is suck it up, cupcake, ditch the sweater. (I couldn't resist;)) It really will never be right.

    5. Any sign of package????

    6. Once the Olympics start, bye, bye Woodworks....

Glad all is well in the great, uncharted north country. You should add a fireplace. I am turning my heat off for 12 hours a day to save money. How sad is that? Work continues to suck. Too many years of work left, I think. The new sink continues to look great. I think I am going to start replacing the appliances with stainless ones. I think the kitchen will look fabulous when I am done.

    Love you lots!

  • For pilling sweaters I use a boar-bristle brush -- generally available from any druggist or pharmacay section of a grocery store.

I don't think it's an especialy Canadian trick, and it works best with fluffier forms of wool (Like mohar and cashmere). Use it only very gently with merino wool. Probably not useful with a synthetic.

For shiny, smooth threads with pilling, I use a regular razor to remove surface pills.

Try to avoid carrying bags starpped across the shoulder to minimize pilling.
